Having problems with Dayz Standalone?

First:
Check that you meet the minimum requirements.
I know that may sound condescending but that really is the first thing to check.

Minimum requirements for Dayz standalone currently are:

OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1
Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or AMD Radeon HD 3830 or Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 512 MB VRAM
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Hard Drive: 10 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX®-compatible

Second:
Have steam check for missing / corrupted files.
  1. Completely exit Steam
  2. Right-click on the shortcut which you use to launch Steam
  3. Select "Run as Administrator"
  4. Launch Steam again and continue to the section of this article titled "Verify integrity of game cache"
  5. From the Library section, right-click on Dayz Standalone and select Properties from the menu.
  6. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
  7. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
  8. Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

So your computer is good enough, you has Steam check for missing files and your still having issues ?

Crash Fix and Fixes to Errors, Freezing, Lagging, CTD, Poor FPS, Black screen, No Sound?

Try these steps.
  1. Update your nVidia / ATI graphics drivers. Check our Technical References page for proper and official download links.
  2. Turn off SLI / Crossfire then start the game. See if it stabilizes DayZ Standalone performance.
  3. Turn off your anti-virus software before launching the DayZ Standalone, but make sure you turn it back on after playing.
  4. Make sure Windows Defender is also disabled.
  5. Try using only one GPU first (turn the other one off via your nVidia / ATI graphics control panel)
  6. Try running the game in Windowed Mode (frequently works for low-end PCs)
  7. Disable anti-aliasing and filtering, restart DayZ Standalone
  8. Disable V-sync, restart DayZ Standalone
  9. Disable background apps, and turn off your anti-virus software
  10. In Windows 7 right-click the DayZ Standalone exe file, go to the ‘Compatibility Mode’ tab and check ‘Disable Desktop Composition.
DayZ Standalone Crashes right after pressing the ‘Play’ button?

In Windows 7 go the DayZ Standalone installation folder, right-click the DayZ Standalone exe file, go to the ‘Compatibility Mode’ tab and check ‘Disable Desktop Composition.’ Then try running DayZ Standalone once more.

Crashing and you have  Intel HD Graphics Card?

Simply do a clean uninstall and reinstall of your Intel Graphics Driver.

GeekThings to rememberGeek
When updated / installing drivers be sure to restart your computer after.

The game is still in Alpha expect stuff to break

[FIX] "Pixelation" and other resolution problems.
There are just so many of these threads around we need yet another thread to merge them into. If you are having problems even after trying through the possible fix(es) listed in this post, feel free to comment.

Make sure to describe your problem in detail. Posting a comment saying "my game looks weird" will not get you any help. Take a screenshot (preferably through Steam) if possible and specify how it's supposed to be.

THE FIX
- Go to C:\Users\xxx\Documents\DayZ\
- Open DayZ.cfg with notepad (or any text editor)
- Replace everything with the below (make back-ups):
language="English";
adapter=-1;
3D_Performance=1500000;
Resolution_Bpp=32;
Windowed=1;
Resolution_W=1280;
Resolution_H=720;
winX=50;
winY=50;
winW=1280;
winH=720;
winDefW=1280;
winDefH=720;
Render_W=1280;
Render_H=720;
FSAA=0;
postFX=0;
GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000;
GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=3;
HDRPrecision=8;
lastDeviceId="";
localVRAM=2087387136;
nonlocalVRAM=2147483647;
vsync=0;
AToC=0;
SWLayersCount=0;
PipQuality=3;
PPAA=0;
ssaoEnabled=0;

This will disable everything or set it as low as possible, and makes the game run in a 1280x720 window. After the game loads, go to Configure > Video > User Interface...and choose your resolution or simply resize the window before adjusting any other settings.

If you absolutely don't want to change the rest of your graphical settings, just modify these lines (should work fine, but try the above if it doesn't):
Windowed=1;
Resolution_W=1280;
Resolution_H=720;
winDefW=1280;
winDefH=720;
Render_W=1280;
Render_H=720;
Resolution = Overall resolution the game will run at.
winDef = Interface resolution, includes menus and text.
Render = Resolution the game will be rendered at before up/downscaling to overall resolution.

Note: If your character/game looks "wide," go into Configure > Video > User Interface and make sure your Aspect Ratio is properly set. 1600x900 and 1920x1080 are 16:9 resolutions, for example.

"ZOOMED IN" FIX
This is less of a "bug" and more of a thing that people haven't noticed.
With the latest Stable patch, the FOV value was reset and (possibly?) the FOV range you can set is wider. All you need to do is re-set your FOV in the Video settings. It has nothing to do with your resolution, which is why I gave it its own little section here at the bottom.
